Meet Kathleen
As a longtime educator in Granite School District, Kathleen's inspiration for her lifetime of service comes from the classroom. In the 5th grade, her teacher Mrs. Hahn created an environment where struggling students were empowered to gain the confidence to succeed. She not only brings her experience as a teacher, but the memory of her struggles as a student to being a voice for her community and fighting on behalf of families in Utah.
Kathleen's career began at Pleasant Green in Magna, where she taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Today, she is an educational technology specialist at Robert Frost and Olene Walker Elementary School where she has taught for the past 20 years. For two years on the Utah State School Board, as co-chair of the finance committee, Kathleen worked to bring more transparency to spending in our schools. In 2018 she was elected to represent District 8 in the State Senate, where she fights to be the voice of our schools, our environment, and for responsible development in our community.
